I will also be writing about ways that a small business owner can prepare themselves for a disaster. According to the Small Business Administration, 99% of employers are small businesses. Small businesses employ nearly 50% of the jobs in our country. When a small business suffers a catastrophic loss due to a disaster, it has a ripple affect in the community. As many as 60% of those businesses do not have a business continuity or disaster management plan according to a study in the August 2012 Journal of Accountancy.
